The property and its history
Built in 1891 by architect J. Driessen, this property is a striking example of fin de siècle architecture. The complex consists of thirteen buildings, each with its own richly decorated facade full of ornaments and sculpture. After years of dilapidation and vacancy, the complex was carefully redeveloped together with Oud-West district council. The characteristic facades have been fully restored and renovated.
The building has been designated a municipal monument. It owes this status not only to its expressive facades, but also to its special roofscape.
