On Saturdays there is a lively market. You have plenty of nice hospitality spots nearby like Vrijburcht which is on the waterfront and also has a cozy little theater. There are also plenty of restaurants around the harbor, and a little further on, of course, you have Blijburg beach.
However, you can also get to Amsterdam CS by streetcar within 15 minutes. At the end of Smalschip Street near the water is a large vegetable garden belonging to Kitchen Garden Association Trial Island. There you will also find the swimming jetty which is widely used by the neighborhood in the summer and where you get a real vacation feeling. Also great for cooling off with a refreshing dip after a hot busy work day.
